1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to PrayerWall and the myprayerwall.org service. Churches use PrayerWall to operate their own prayer walls. Each church controls its membership, administrators, visibility settings, and day-to-day moderation. Church administrators may have access to information shared within their church community.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use PrayerWall, we may collect:
- Account information: your name, email address, password hash, email-verification status, account status, church memberships, roles, and notification choices.
- Church information: church name, physical and mailing address, phone number, notification email, logo, public-wall settings, and other church profile details.
- Prayer-wall activity: prayer requests, visibility choices, responses, encouragements, prayer counts, updates, and answered or archived status.
- Prayer-vigil reservations: your email address, selected prayer time, display name, and city/state. The display name and city/state entered on the vigil signup form appear on the public vigil schedule; the email address remains private.
- Safety and administration information: invitations, access requests, reports, moderation decisions, limited audit history, and related email-delivery records.
- Contact messages: your name, email address, selected topic, optional church name, and the message you submit through the contact form.
- Technical information: session and security cookies, IP address and browser information that may appear in hosting or security logs, timestamps, and anti-abuse signals.
Prayer content may reveal sensitive information, including religious beliefs, health concerns, family circumstances, or other personal matters. Share only what is necessary and what you have permission to share.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate PrayerWall, authenticate accounts, verify email addresses, connect people with churches, display prayer content according to its visibility setting, send requested notifications, prevent spam and abuse, investigate reports, maintain service security, support church administrators, and comply with applicable obligations.
4. Who can see prayer information
- Public prayers may be viewed by anyone on the internet after any required review.
- Private prayers stay off the public wall but remain available to the applicable church prayer team and its administrators.
- Prayers awaiting review are limited to the author, authorized administrators, and in some cases the member who submitted a safety report.
- Safety reports are visible to church and site administrators. The prayer author is not shown who submitted a report.
- Site administrators may access church, account, prayer, and moderation information when needed to operate, secure, or moderate the service.
PrayerWall uses limited automated checks to hold likely email addresses or U.S. phone numbers for review, but automated checks cannot identify every kind of personal information. Do not rely on them as a substitute for careful sharing.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We may share only the information needed for vendors to provide hosting, email delivery, security, and related infrastructure. Current features may also involve:
- Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection. The browser loads its widget, and the server sends the challenge token and IP address to Cloudflare for verification.
- U.S. Census Geocoder and Zippopotam.us for optional church-location searches. A submitted street address or ZIP code may be sent to the applicable service and the result may be cached temporarily.
- Bunny Fonts to deliver the site’s web fonts, which may involve standard request information such as IP address and browser headers.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect a person from serious harm, investigate abuse, protect the service, or complete a business transfer. PrayerWall does not sell prayer content or account information and does not use prayer content for targeted advertising.
6. Cookies and security
PrayerWall uses cookies required for sign-in, sessions, request security, and basic site operation. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including password hashing, email verification, access controls, CAPTCHA protection, rate limits, and moderation tools. No internet service can promise absolute security.
7. Retention and your choices
We retain information while it is needed to provide the service, maintain safety records, resolve disputes, or meet applicable obligations. Deleted accounts and content may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, or recoverable trash before permanent deletion.
You can update your name, email address, and notification preferences from your profile. You can close your own prayers, request help from a church administrator, or delete your account from the profile page. For access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions that cannot be handled in the app, use our contact form.
8. Children and teenagers
PrayerWall is a general-audience service and is not intended for children under 13. Children under 13 may not create accounts or submit personal information. Users between 13 and 17 should use PrayerWall only with permission from a parent or guardian and appropriate church supervision. Do not post identifying information about a minor. A parent or guardian who believes a child’s information was submitted should contact us so it can be reviewed and removed.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as PrayerWall changes. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes may also be announced through the service or by email when appropriate.
