Our shared commitment
PrayerWall is for sincere prayer, encouragement, and responsible pastoral care. These guidelines apply to prayer requests, responses, reports, church profiles, invitations, and account activity. Individual churches may adopt additional rules for their own communities.
Share the minimum necessary
- Ask permission before sharing another person’s situation.
- Use general descriptions when a name or identifying detail is not necessary.
- Avoid email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, workplaces, schools, schedules, precise locations, passwords, account numbers, medical-record details, and government identifiers.
- Never identify a minor or describe a minor’s sensitive circumstances without a parent or guardian’s permission and appropriate church oversight.
- Choose “private” whenever a request should remain within the church prayer team.
Treat people with dignity
Be compassionate and truthful. Do not shame, diagnose, gossip about, expose, harass, threaten, demean, or pressure anyone. Do not post hateful content, sexual exploitation, graphic material, instructions for self-harm or violence, or content that celebrates another person’s suffering.
Keep prayer free from exploitation
Do not use PrayerWall for scams, spam, chain messages, commercial advertising, political campaigning, unauthorized fundraising, suspicious payment requests, malware, impersonation, or harvesting contact information. A legitimate church may provide appropriate help outside PrayerWall, but prayer content must never be used to target vulnerable people.
Respond safely
- Offer encouragement without promising outcomes or presenting yourself as a professional unless you are qualified and acting in that role.
- Do not give medical, legal, financial, or crisis instructions through a prayer response.
- Keep private responses private. Do not copy prayer content outside the community without permission.
- If a post reveals immediate danger, contact an administrator and appropriate emergency or crisis resources instead of relying only on the wall.
Report concerns privately
Members can use the private report option when content appears harmful, identifying, deceptive, duplicated, or otherwise inappropriate. Reports are limited to church and site administrators, and the prayer author is not told who reported the content. Privacy and harmful-content reports may temporarily remove a prayer from the public wall while administrators review it.
How moderation works
Depending on the situation, administrators may edit a request to remove identifying information, limit visibility, hold it for review, dismiss a report, archive content, mark spam, move content to trash, suspend an account, or permanently remove content or accounts. Repeated or serious violations may result in loss of access.
To ask about a moderation or safety decision, contact the applicable church administrator first. Site-level concerns can be sent through our contact form. Do not include sensitive prayer details; identify the church and ask for a secure follow-up.
